Singer and presidential advisor on Kampala affairs, Catherine Kusasira, has announced her intention to run for the Buikwe Woman Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 general elections.
The Uganda parliament continues to welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds to represent their constituents. Several figures from the entertainment industry have already taken up seats in the August House, and Kusasira aims to add her name to the growing list.
The news about Kusasira’s candidacy for the Buikwe district Woman MP seat was revealed early Thursday morning. Known for her song “Ssi Ddogo,” Kusasira is a prominent supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and is expected to run on the NRM ticket.
Kusasira will be challenging the current Woman MP and Minister of State, Mutasingwa Diana Kagyenyi, who is a formidable figure within the NRM party. She joins fellow artists Viboyo Oweyo, King Saha, and Ziza Bafana, who have also expressed interest in pursuing leadership roles in the 2026 elections.
