In the wake of President Yoweri Museveni’s accusations of vote rigging by the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Mbidde has dismissed the President’s claims as mere entertainment, lacking substantive evidence.

During a memorial thanksgiving ceremony for the late Gen. Aronda at the Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo, President Museveni alleged that NUP had cheated by 1 million votes in the 2021 general elections, asserting he had concrete evidence to support his claim. He also invited NUP to take legal action if they disagreed with his statements.

However, Hon. Mbidde has strongly rebutted these allegations, arguing that Museveni’s comments were intended more to entertain than to inform. Mbidde challenged the President to provide specific examples of where NUP obstructed his campaign efforts, denied media access, or where NUP security of Eddie Mutwe interfered with his rallies.

Mbidde further accused Museveni of using coercion and highlighted that it was the President’s administration that prevented Bobi Wine from campaigning in 13 districts. He criticized Museveni for not addressing the real issues of election rigging and challenged him to explain how NUP could have rigged the vote when they did not control the electoral process.
