Singer and song writer A Pass real name Alexander Bagonza has revealed that the Ugandan music industry really needs gate keeping.

He said the main reason to why the gate keeping should be essential is because there is so much rubbish that is being released and it is overshadowing the good music.

In Uganda, TikTok has taken over the music industry. Most of the upcoming artistes use it and it actually works out for them so well.

But the music that gets released there is either vulgar or it has funny lyrics that makes people vibe to yet there is the good music that gets released on other platforms but doesn’t go anywhere.

A Pass recently released a 43 song album and none of the songs on that album has made it anywhere.

He said the the good music ain’t even getting airplay but media platforms give the TikTok trending songs airplay even when they know that the song is of poor quality.

We need a bit of gate keeping in the Ugandan music industry, too much stupid music out here. Anything funny and stupid is now a song. What is the standard ! Back then you had to have something good to be on radio or tv but nowadays all you need is to be viral & boom 💥#Olemwa
I am not here talking about what you listen to on the internet 🛜 I have been clear in my submission. Some of you need to learn to read. The internet can have as much garbage 🗑️ as it wants but our traditional media should haa standards naye Tuswala 🙏🏿,”
