Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine and President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), expressed his disappointment over losing former close friends after venturing into politics.

During a wedding ceremony in Kampala, Bobi Wine disclosed, “Ambassador Kirumira, that guy is my friend. Only when I started speaking the truth, most of my friends feared and ran away from me.”

He took the opportunity to reassure attendees of his integrity and patriotism, emphasizing that he remains committed to fighting for what he believes in, regardless of any challenges.

Bobi Wine’s entry into politics began with his bid for the Kyadondo East constituency parliamentary seat. Later, he founded the NUP, which achieved significant electoral success in the Buganda Region.

The loss of many of his friends, according to Bobi Wine, stemmed from their fear of being targeted by government security forces, a fate often experienced by opposition figures like Dr. Kizza Besigye.
