The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, has publicly referred to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, as a criminal during his visit to Parliament to present an alternative budget proposal for the financial year 2024/2025.
Addressing journalists after leaving the parliamentary chambers this morning, Bobi Wine used the opportunity to express his opinion about Speaker Among, stating, “The Speaker is a criminal, so we don’t really have time to engage with criminals. Thank you very much.”
Speaker Among has faced criticism and scrutiny, particularly from NUP leaders and a section of Ugandans, regarding her office’s unexplained expenses, which were highlighted during a month-long social media campaign under the hashtag #UgandaParliamentExhibition.
Last week, Among was verbally attacked by the NUP deputy spokesperson during a burial in Bugweri, where she was present as the chief mourner.
