Canary Mugume, the NBS TV news Anchor has achieved a victory in his efforts to remove a fake Twitter post from Nubian Li’s account.
The contentious post featured a manipulated screenshot of Canary purportedly reading news, but with the text edited to falsely suggest that “Bobiwine misses Kabaka’s Birthday run. Rift between Mengo and NUP widens.”
Canary Mugume responded to the misleading post with disappointment, expressing uncertainty about supporting Nubian Li’s music in light of the incident.
He conveyed his dismay, highlighting that despite numerous comments indicating the falsity of the post, it remained online even after 13 hours. Canary questioned whether such actions align with the values of Nubian Li’s political party, citing issues of blackmail, integrity, and reason.
Following Canary’s communication with Lewis Rubongoya, the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), a commitment was made to address the matter.
Canary subsequently shared that he had engaged with Rubongoya, who pledged to advise Nubian Li to remove the misleading tweet.
