A Catholic priest has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of an Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) official over an 11 million UGX debt. The accused, Fr. Dominic Alinga, allegedly borrowed money from the deceased, John Bosco, with whom he had a close friendship, frequently visiting him at work and home.

On the fateful day, Fr. Dominic requested a meeting with Bosco at his home. They decided to drive to Entebbe, but near the UN mission warehouses, Fr. Dominic allegedly pulled out a knife and began stabbing Bosco. Bosco fought for his life, evident from the cuts on his fingers.

Despite his severe injuries, Bosco managed to jump out of the car, and a passing boda boda rider tried to rescue him and rush him to the hospital. However, Fr. Dominic reportedly pursued them and knocked them down with his vehicle. Thinking Bosco was dead, the priest fled and hid.

UN workers at the scene rushed both Bosco and the boda boda rider to the hospital. Throughout the ordeal, Bosco repeatedly identified Fr. Dominic as his attacker, pleading with doctors to hurry and stitch him up as he was bleeding profusely. Unfortunately, Bosco succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.

Christian faithful have since spoken out about Fr. Dominic, describing him as a young priest who had been suspended for over six months and had become a heavy drinker.

Fr. Dominic is now in police custody as investigations continue.
