Arriving yesterday, Mugema expressed his eagerness to meet with doctors promptly to initiate his treatment regimen.
His journey to seek medical assistance abroad follows a public appeal for support earlier this year when he disclosed his battle with cancer, which was diagnosed at Mulago Hospital.
Mugema attributes the onset of his illness to exposure to chemicals during his time in custody due to political activities.
Suffering from swollen legs and unable to work, Mugema reached out to fellow Ugandans for financial assistance to cover his medical expenses and basic needs.
Fortunate enough to garner support, Mugema received aid from various quarters, including prominent figures like Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who facilitated his visa for travel.
However, while he has reached Turkey, details about the duration of his treatment and its potential success remain undisclosed.
Notably, Mugema’s plea for assistance extended to political circles, as he publicly appealed to Bobi Wine, attributing his illness to their shared political involvement.
