Eddy Kenzo, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has announced the reception of funds allocated for artists. The funds, which were released weeks ago, are earmarked for specific initiatives previously discussed within the federation.
Kenzo, who founded the federation early last year, has been proactive in his efforts to support fellow musicians. Despite initial skepticism from some artists who accused him of self-interest, Kenzo remained steadfast in his commitment to advancing the industry’s interests.
The federation, under Kenzo’s leadership, has faced allegations of plagiarism and misappropriation of ideas from other associations. However, Kenzo has dismissed these claims, emphasizing the federation’s primary goal of ensuring artists receive fair compensation for their work.
One of the key objectives of the federation has been advocating for the enactment of copyright laws, a crucial step towards protecting artists’ intellectual property rights. Kenzo expressed optimism about the progress of such legislation, indicating that it is currently in the pipeline and expected to be implemented soon.
Additionally, Kenzo revealed plans to utilize government funds to support artists in establishing their businesses. With the release of the allocated funds, the federation is now focused on implementing strategies to benefit all artists within the industry.
“The money intended for artists has been disbursed, and we are now poised to execute our planned initiatives,” Kenzo affirmed.
