Popular Ugandan singer Fik Fameica is embroiled in a social media storm after his administrator threatened to seize control of all his accounts and delete them.

The drastic move comes in response to Fameica’s recent performance at an event attended by Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a presidential hopeful and son of the current president, aimed at rallying support for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a group supporting Muhoozi’s political ambitions.

Fameica’s alignment with Muhoozi and the PLU has raised eyebrows, particularly among his fans and supporters of the People Power movement led by Bobi Wine. Many see his participation in the PLU event as a betrayal of the values and principles he once stood for.

In a statement circulated on Twitter, purportedly from Fameica’s administrator, the decision to confiscate and potentially delete his social media accounts is explained.

The administrator claims to have been the voice behind Fameica’s online presence, using the platform to advocate for human rights and justice. However, they express disappointment at Fameica’s perceived shift towards the government’s agenda, contrary to the values they once shared.

The statement poses a dilemma to the public, asking whether Fameica’s accounts should be handed back to him, kept under the administrator’s control for advocacy purposes, or deleted altogether.

In response to the letter, Fameica cryptically tweeted, “WE WILL ALL DIE SOMEDAY ANYWAY,” hinting at his resignation to whatever fate awaits him in the controversy. He also promised to issue a statement addressing the situation once emotions have settled.
