There is a story making rounds on social media of a 78 years old man HIV positive asking for forgiveness from Ugandan courts of law after raping a 7 years old girl.
He was arrested in 2021 but he said with his condition he would love to be pardoned so that he spends the rest of his life with his family and friends.
In Uganda the raping of young girls has been at an increase but luckily most of the people that do that don’t get away with it. They are usually arrested which is interesting.
For the 78 years old man, it wasn’t just raping the fact that he had HIV and decided to give it to a young girl was very disgusting and unacceptable.
His lawyers are aging the court to let go of him but their request currently hasn’t been granted.
“78-year-old Godfrey Sozi, facing charges of aggravated defilement of a 7-year-old, has asked the court for forgiveness and appealed to the judge for the opportunity to spend his final days at home rather than in prison. Justice Margaret Mutonyi took into account Mzee Sozi’s ailing health and sentenced him to time served, encompassing his period on remand at Luzira prison from 2021. Court documents reveal that Mzee Sozi is suffering from HIV/AIDS,”
