Seventeen years after their last major concert at the Cricket Oval in Lugogo, Blu3 is set to reunite for a highly anticipated concert tonight. The original concert on July 21, 2007, celebrated their “Burn” album and featured American singer Montell Jordan.
Today’s concert is filled with nostalgia, bringing together fans who remember the group’s peak. Since their breakup, the members pursued solo careers, faced personal challenges, and mourned the loss of Radio, who was Lillian’s partner. Jackie Chandiru also publicly battled addiction.
The event organizer has announced a sold-out show, reflecting the fans’ eagerness to witness the reunion. The concert is set to start at 8 PM and continue until just before midnight.
Blu3’s journey began with the East African edition of CocaCola Popstars in early 2004. Out of many hopefuls, 15 Ugandan singers joined 30 others from Kenya and Tanzania for a music boot camp in Mombasa.
The group thrived largely due to ace producer Steve Jean, who many say was the driving force behind their success. Blu3 enjoyed a four-year run, producing two acclaimed pop albums, “Hitaji” (2004) and “Burn” (2007).
Tonight’s concert promises to be a memorable celebration of their musical legacy and enduring popularity.
