The Inspector General Of Police Martin Okoth Ochola promoted 9,312 officers to higher ranks and hence given new roles, The promotions which took effect from June 1, 2023, were based on a number of requirements, according to the deputy police spokesperson, CP Polly Namaye.
These promotions were based on a number of requirements including:
1.Seniority
2.Record of work
3.Acting position
4.Exemporary Performance such as in operations and executing given tasks
5.Discipline record
The number promoted has been broken down as below;
-Assistant Inspector of Police(AIP) to Inspector of Police(IP) 1145
-Head Constable Major (HCM) to Inspector (IP) 05
-Head Constable (HC) to Head Constable Major(HCM) 03
-Station Sergeant to Head Constable 28
-Sergeant (Sgt) to AIP 1531
Corporal (Cpl) to Sergeant 2644
-Police Constable to Corporal 3956
