Popular musician Ykee Benda has announced his decision not to pursue the Kira Municipality parliamentary seat, currently held by Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda. Previously expressing interest in entering politics and challenging the incumbent, Ykee Benda has now clarified that he will not be pursuing a political career at this time.
Speaking on his decision, Ykee Benda explained that while he has strong familial ties to Kira, particularly having been born in Kireka and with his father still residing there, his current focus is not on politics.
“I am not going to Parliament, so people should stop asking me whether I’m interested in politics. I was just born in Kira, and I’m not a leader there. I’m just a leader in many other things but not politics,” the singer emphasized.
While not completely ruling out future involvement in politics, Ykee Benda underscored that his energies and attention are currently directed elsewhere.
