Kawempe North MP Hon. Mohamed Ssegirinya has been discharged from Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi after 186 days of treatment.

In a social media statement, his brother Alex Luwemba expressed gratitude for the support received during Ssegirinya’s hospitalization. “After 186 days of getting treatment, Ssegirinya has been discharged from the hospital. I thank the parliament for handling all the hospital bills and looking after him. I also thank the NUP leadership, headed by Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, for the support they have rendered.”

Ssegirinya, speaking in a low tone, shared his relief and gratitude, stating, “Today I’ve been discharged. I thank Allah for this day, and I have decided to go back home. I want to assure you all that this is done.”

Since his release from prison late last year, Ssegirinya has faced ongoing health challenges, necessitating frequent hospital visits. He, along with Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana, was accused of being involved with the Bijambia Militia responsible for killings in the greater Masaka region in 2022.

Before his health issues, Ssegirinya was a beloved figure among Kampala residents, particularly active on social media where his humorous takes on various issues lightened the mood of his followers.
