Lunabe Entertainment singer Lil Pazo is facing serious legal action from the late Kato Lubwama’s family, who have demanded the removal of his latest song, “Irena Weee,” from YouTube, citing copyright infringement.
The controversy erupted after John Segawa and Conrad Lubwama accused Lil Pazo of copying the late Kato Lubwama’s song “Kilabe Ebiiso” without obtaining proper authorization. In response, they issued an intention to sue notice, demanding that Lil Pazo delete the song and make a formal request for its use—a notice that Lil Pazo claims he did not receive.
The legal notice also stipulated that Lil Pazo pay a hefty sum of UGX 300 million in damages, among other penalties.
In a recent interview with Sanyuka TV, Lil Pazo defended himself, stating that the beat he used in “Irena Weee” is a reggae beat by the late Lucky Dube, which he combined with Luganda lyrics, and thus, he does not see it as a case of copyright infringement.
