Embattled legislator Mathias Mpuuga has vehemently denied ever convening a meeting with National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, regarding the alleged 500 million shillings scandal.

Addressing the press from the Parliamentary boardroom, Mpuuga dismissed what he termed as mere speculation circulating on social media platforms.

He asserted that he has never engaged in any discussions with Bobi Wine concerning the purported 500 million shillings, and refuted claims made by Bobi Wine during public appearances.

“I have not had any meeting with my party leader, Bobi Wine. I have only heard him mention it in passing at various events such as funerals and in the media. He is trying to portray me in a negative light, but the public is not buying into it. I am willing to meet with him to clarify any misunderstandings,” stated Mathias Mpuuga.

The controversy arose after Bobi Wine disclosed via social media that the NUP leadership had convened with Mpuuga, during which Mpuuga purportedly admitted to wrongdoing and was advised to resign from his commissioner post.

However, Mpuuga allegedly reversed his decision after initially agreeing to step down, citing the need to inform his family and friends before making any drastic moves.

Mpuuga at the same conference reiterated his commitment to remaining in his position as commissioner of parliament, defying calls from within his party for his resignation.

Additionally, he affirmed his allegiance to the National Unity Platform, asserting his status as a founding member of the political party.
