Veteran singer Gerald Muwonge alias Clever J has disclosed that once he started doing badly financially in 2009, his wife left him.
In a recent television interview, the Manzi Wanani singer said life became difficult for him in 2009 after he failed to get gigs.
Clever J further said he tried organising concerts at Eden Service Park, Kawanda and Luzira, but all of them flopped, which caused his disappearance from the music industry.
This forced him to sell off his Toyota Celica car at sh4m and he used the money to buy a small piece of land in Wakiso district.
“I sold the car because I couldn’t sustain it. I had failed to get promoters to hire me for concerts. Because of this, my wife left me. I couldn’t afford to look after her because of my brokenness,” he revealed.
“… But I am grateful that (events promoter) Bajjo Events has come to my rescue with the August 4 concert and I have started practising with a live band at my home. This is the concert that is going to re-introduce me to the fans of Ugandan music that had forgotten me,” he added.
