Businessman Nelson Tugume’s coffee consortium is set to receive an additional $36 million allocation to purchase coffee for his factory processor located in Ntungamo.

This funding comes on the heels of a previous allocation of $10 million designated for coffee promotion that Tugume’s consortium received last year.

The allocation is part of the budget planning for the new financial year, highlighting the government’s continued support for Tugume’s coffee processing venture.

While the injection of funds is intended to boost coffee production and stimulate economic activity, it has also drawn criticism from some quarters.

Several farmers have raised concerns over the allocation process, questioning the transparency and fairness of how the coffee funds are being distributed.

Some critics have labeled Nelson Tugume as not being straightforward in his business dealings, raising further doubts about the allocation decisions.
