In a decisive move, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) has resolved to disband all current parliamentary committee chairpersons amid ongoing allegations of corruption. The decision was made during a meeting held at State House on Tuesday, chaired by President Yoweri Museveni.

President Museveni ordered that the changes be implemented immediately, affecting all NRM chairpersons currently holding positions in various parliamentary committees. The Parliament is expected to designate new leaders during its plenary session this afternoon.

The chairpersons affected by this decision include:

  • Budget Committee: Patrick Opolot Isiagi
  • Climate Change Committee: Lawrence Songa Biyika
  • National Economy Committee: John Bosco Ikojo
  • Equal Opportunities Committee: Judith Alyek
  • HIV/AIDS and Related Matters Committee: Sarah Netalisire Kayagi
  • Human Rights Committee: Fox Odoi-Oywelowo
  • Science, Technology, and Innovations Committee: Remigio Achia

This shakeup comes as the NRM leadership seeks to address and mitigate corruption within its ranks, demonstrating a commitment to accountability and integrity.
