Franklin Mondo Mugisha, a controversial Ugandan pastor who has relocated to Canada, has announced his intention to run for political office in the 2026 general elections. Speaking in an interview on Spark TV’s DailySoup gossip show, Pastor Mondo issued a strong warning to Hon. David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga, the current representative of Busujju County, Mityana, declaring his candidacy for the parliamentary seat.
“We are a group of individuals planning to return to Kampala from America for the next general elections and campaign. We are aiming to oust some MPs who are corrupt and facing trouble. The MP representing my home area better get ready because I’m coming for your seat in Parliament,” Mondo stated. “I come from Busujju, Mityana, Nsinsi village. That is where I will be buried when I breathe my last.”
Pastor Mondo criticized the current MP, claiming that he has done very little to improve the lives and wellbeing of the locals, and asserted that 2026 is the time for a change.
When questioned about the legal issues he faced before leaving Uganda, Mondo expressed confidence that he would resolve them with the help of his lawyers. It is worth noting that Pastor Mondo fled to Kenya after being granted bail on charges related to forgery and a multi-billion scam.
