Through the deputy spokesperson of the Uganda Police Force Polly Namaye, police has issued a statement confirming the arrest of Chinese Nationality and residence of Bukoto1 UCB Zone in Nakawa Division Kampala to have been behind the internet scam BLQ sports investment.
A number of Ugandans were scammed in through this sports investment where the highest investment could yield huge returns and many had engaged in this business and its believed around 4.5 billion was lost from the participants.
His arrested came after a join a National Cyber Taskforce that comprised of CID, Crime Intelligence (CI),ESO, CMI, Bank Of Uganda, NIRA, NITA, Uganda Bankers Association.
Police also confirms arrest of other (05) Individuals and these included Awori Mary wife to Yinghe Chen and the official registered Director of BLQ Sports SMC who was netted on 11, May 2023, Akoth Justine Oboth, Achola Mary and Biira Shamim.
The scammed individuals were convinced by the slogan of “You lose, You Win, and it’s said the number is mounting to 6000 Ugandans, police confirm working with DPP to ensure Yinghe Chen is produced to court and encourages the public with relevant evidence to record statements at the nearby police stations.
