Ibrahim Musana, popularly known as Pressure 24/7 on TikTok, has lodged a complaint against the Uganda Prisons authorities at Luzira, alleging that they conducted medical tests on him without his consent.

Musana is currently detained at the Luzira facility on charges of allegedly insulting Buganda King (Kabaka) Ronald Mutebi II and President Yoweri Museveni.

According to reports from his legal representatives presented to the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s court, Musana claims he underwent blood sample extractions and unspecified medical treatments without his consent while in prison.

Speaking on behalf of Musana, defense lawyer Gideon Masamba expressed concern over the procedures conducted on his client without prior notification or approval. Masamba emphasized the importance of ensuring such medical procedures are carried out in the presence of legal counsel.

During proceedings on Tuesday, the court learned that these medical tests were conducted approximately three weeks into Musana’s detention.

Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi, reacting to the lawyer’s statement, sought clarification on Musana’s health condition, to which his legal team responded that he was not unwell.

In response to the allegations, prison authorities explained that it is standard protocol for all new inmates to undergo medical examinations upon admission to prevent the spread of contagious diseases, including tuberculosis.

Frank Baine, a spokesperson for Uganda Prisons, reiterated the necessity of these medical screenings to safeguard the health of both inmates and staff. He further clarified that the timing of Musana’s medical assessment was contingent upon the availability of medical personnel and their scheduled routines.

Regarding Musana’s case, he stands accused of using the popular social media platform TikTok to allegedly insult the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi II.
