Republican Party nominee and former President Donald Trump has criticized his opponent, President Joe Biden, for what he perceives as disrespect towards Christians during Easter celebrations.
President Biden’s decision to declare Easter Sunday as Trans Visibility Day has drawn outrage from Trump and his supporters.
Traditionally, US presidents send out Easter messages and partake in celebrations honoring the Christian holiday.
During a rally, Trump seized on this issue to appeal to Christian voters, expressing disbelief at Biden’s decision.
“What the Hell was Biden thinking when he declared Easter Sunday to be ‘Trans Visibility Day’? Such total disrespect to Christians,” Trump exclaimed. He went on to announce plans for “CHRISTIAN Visibility Day” on November 5th, urging Christians to turn out in unprecedented numbers for the upcoming election.
With America set to go to the polls on November 5th to elect a new president, Trump’s remarks stress the growing significance of minority rights, particularly LGBTQ+ issues, in the political landscape.
With Biden trailing in the polls, Trump aims to leverage concerns over cultural and religious values to sway voters in his favor.
