Mengo witnessed a significant show of support as delegations from both the National Unity Platform (NUP) party and the Parliament of Uganda gathered to affirm their backing for the upcoming Kabaka Birthday marathon, slated to take place this Sunday.

The marathon, aimed at combating HIV by 2030, drew notable figures from both spheres of political influence.

Leading the NUP delegation were Joel Ssenyonyi, the party’s spokesperson, accompanied by Lewis Rubongoya, the Secretary-General, along with several MPs and a throng of NUP supporters.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary delegation, under the leadership of Speaker Anita Among and her Deputy, Thomas Tayebwa, added their weight to the cause. Notably, embattled MP Mathias Mpuuga was also among the parliamentary representatives present.

In a show of financial support, Parliament pledged a donation of 50 million Ugandan shillings to the marathon fund, while NUP contributed 20 million Ugandan shillings.

With the marathon set to kick off this Sunday, April 7th, interested participants can acquire their kits from Airtel shops across the city for a modest fee of 20,000 shillings.
